Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated?
GPA is calculated by converting each letter grade to a grade point (A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0.0), then averaging across all courses weighted by credit hours.
What is a good GPA?
A GPA of 3.5–4.0 is considered excellent (Dean's List at most universities). 3.0–3.5 is good. Below 2.0 may put you on academic probation at many schools.
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
Unweighted GPA treats all courses equally (max 4.0). Weighted GPA gives extra points for honors, AP, or IB courses (max 5.0), rewarding academic rigor.
